Listings > Middle School: How Can We Hear So Many Different Sounds From Across the Room?

Rating: Quality Work in Progress

Science Discipline: Physical Science

Length: Unit

This unit is literally a work in progress--the teacher guide and student activity sheets have only been completed for lessons 1-14 out of 21. It is shared here as a strong example of the criteria in Category I: NGSS 3D Design at the middle school level. In particular, reviewers found extensive evidence that students making sense of phenomena was driving the learning, that there were student performances that integrated the three dimensions, and that the lessons in the unit really built on student questions and understandings. Even with the teacher's guide and student worksheets not yet completed, this unit was only one point short of earning an Example of High Quality NGSS Design rating.
