In fall 2016, Achieve launched the EQuIP Peer Review Panel (PRP) for Science as a group of expert educators who evaluate the quality and alignment of lessons and units to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The peer review panel seeks to identify lessons and units that best illustrate the cognitive demands of the NGSS as introduced in A Framework for K-12 Science Education.

Achieve today released two documents examining some lessons learned from the California K-8 Early Implementation Initiative. The initiative began in August 2014 and was developed by the K-12 Alliance at WestEd, with close collaborative input on its design and objectives from the State Board of Education, the California Department of Education, and Achieve.
The purpose of the NGSS Lesson Screener (or NGSS Screening Tool) is to quickly review a lesson to determine: (1) whether a lesson being developed or revised is on the right track; (2) if a lesson warrants further review using the Educators Evaluating the Quality of Instructional Products (EQuIP) Rubric for Lessons
